A free support service for residents of the Royal Borough of Greenwich providing practical support for carers to maintain their health and wellbeing in the absence of family and friends when supporting their loved ones when in hospital, or to medical appointments. It is designed to support all carers, in the Royal Borough of Greenwich who do not have a network of family and friends to rely upon. Taking the pressure off the carer, NHS staff and social system. What the service offers: DBS checked trained staff and volunteers to deliver up to 6 hours a day practical support with a maximum of 24 hours a week. Types of support services: Sitting service: A support worker will sit with your loved ones when they are in hospital, hospice or at home. Visits to hospital, GP or dentist appointments: A support worker will accompany the carer to appointments. Shopping, prescriptions: A support will go shopping and or collect prescriptions to allow the carer to stay with their loved ones. End of life/bereavement: Support worker will signpost to local care groups, support groups and counsellors.
