Aims & Activities
MumsAid is a CIC established in 2012 to support women who are experiencing psychological difficulties during pregnancy or after having a baby.
Few mothers with perinatal mental health (PMH) issues receive proper treatment. Early intervention is critical in reducing the devastating consequences that these problems can have in women’s lives and on their babies’ development.
We aim to:
- alleviate PMH difficulties;
- improve the bond between mothers and babies;
- improve mothers’ confidence;
- raise awareness amongst professionals.
Activities include:
- free psychological therapy;
- training and clinical supervision for frontline staff;
- sharing learnings (through journals and forums);
- challenging stigma and reaching mothers through social media.
We work with women of all backgrounds, but focus on marginalised groups, including those on low incomes and single mothers. We also run YoungMumsAid for teenage mothers with complex needs.
